Midlands (UK) base / European remit

This is a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional lean manufacturing / continuous improvement leader to use their ‘hands-on’ style to embed a sustainable culture of lean management into a large and diverse manufacturing organisation at the beginning of their lean journey.  This appointment offers excellent scope and much support / Main Board sponsorship.

This is a high profile appointment reporting to the UK MD with a dotted line to the Global Lean Director (based in the USA) within this global multibillion Euro turnover manufacturer.  The Head of Lean will operate regionally, with a base from one of their facilities in the Midlands and have a remit to drive lean management across their three main UK facilities and several across Europe.

You will be responsible for deploying a lean / continuous improvement programme across the region, developing a true improvement culture, providing technical support, training and coaching in processes and tools to grow the lean / improvement capabilities of the business.  The Head of Lean requires significant leadership skills, as well as, strong technical lean skills such as Value Stream Mapping, Business Process Mapping, 5S Deployment etc…  You will drive change management, effectively communicate throughout the organisation and collaborate to achieve target performance and share best practices.

To be considered it is essential that candidates demonstrate experience of driving lean / continuous improvement (CI) initiatives within any demanding manufacturing or engineering environment.  You will be of graduate calibre and ideally possess Six Sigma certification although this is not essential.  Most importantly we require a track record of driving and leading cultural, long-term sustainable change.

You will demonstrate a progressive career and possess energy, excellent communication & influencing skills and an engaging hands-on people management style, coupled with genuine passion for enrichment of the work place using lean / continuous improvement (CI) techniques.  Flexibility and a willingness to travel is required; you will mainly be based at their Midlands (UK) facilities with less regular travel to Europe centres and occasionally attend  training / best practice meetings in the USA.

Please note that the salary advertised is dependent on experience. The package includes a car allowance of £600 per month, a performance bonus and comprehensive benefits. Should you feel your skills and experience are well suited please apply online or for further information contact Dan Sculthorp, Director ‘Opex Selection’.  Alternatively, should you be able to recommend a highly suitable candidate please contact Dan or any member of our team and receive a referral bonus of £300 (in retail vouchers of your choice) if the referral leads to a successful candidate placement.
