Part of a major group, our client is a medium sized distributor that has seen recent growth in excess of 10% year-on-year and as well as being profitable, benefits from a highly loyal and interesting customer base. Their operation incorporates a network of over thirty sites across the UK, including a National Distribution Centre in the Midlands and a call centre operation in the South of England.
My client’s group organisation and sister companies have seen much benefit in introducing lean and six sigma methodologies and wider operational excellence programmes. Our client’s Main Board have a high level of commitment to introducing their own lean six sigma programme (from a present position of low maturity) and therefore they seek the newly created position of Business Improvement Lead / Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. This position has a UK wide remit and can be based from either the Midlands or in the South of England (within a one hour commute of Portsmouth).
The Business Process Improvement Lead / Lean Six Sigma Black Belt will be responsible for identifying and executing large scale distribution / logistics, customer service and administrative, process improvement projects through the application of Continuous Improvement / Lean Six Sigma principles, techniques, and tools. Projects will be aligned with the Company’s strategic plan with a goal to improve process quality, reduce costs, and improve customer service. In addition to leading Black Belt projects and project teams, you will be responsible for advancing continuous improvement (CI) by championing a CI culture across the organisation and through the direction and mentoring of Green Belts on the execution of their projects and development of their skills.
To be considered it is essential that candidates demonstrate experience of driving continuous improvement / lean initiatives within any demanding and fast moving manufacturing and / or service sector. Candidates with experience of implementing lean in the logistics sector and customer services / call centres are of particular interest. Candidates will be of graduate calibre (ideally with a HND / degree level education or above) and possess Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Most importantly we require a track record of driving and leading cultural, long-term sustainable change. You will demonstrate a progressive career and possess a high level of energy, excellent communication and influencing skills and have an engaging hands-on people management style, coupled with genuine passion for change and enrichment of the work place utilising world class improvement techniques. You will possess a full driving license and be willing to travel across the UK as well as undertake some irregular international travel to contribute to group projects and join best practice meetings with peers across the group.
